Newest green amenity offered to residents of high-rise apartment communities in Atlanta and Orlando with a fun and convenient way to get around town
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (March 6, 2014) Zagster, a company that provides turnkey bike sharing programs for real estate providers has partnered with Novare Group, leading developer of cutting-edge, mixed-use high-rise communities in southeastern urban markets, to offer bike sharing to residents of SkyHouse South in Atlanta and SkyHouse Orlando. The cruiser-style bikes are available for residents by the hour or the day, giving them a convenient, healthy and fun way to get around town.
“As city-wide bike sharing programs expand globally, they’re not built to serve the needs of smaller communities, like apartments and campuses,” said Timothy Ericson, co-founder and CEO of Zagster. “Zagster’s cost-effective, turnkey program makes it a snap for property owners and managers to add a new and desired amenity for residents.”
At both locations there are four bikes available to residents for up to 6 hours free after an initial, one-time membership fee of $20. Each bike contains a bike lock with the key stored inside a lock box. After joining Zagster at www.zagster.com, riders simply text 'start' plus the bike number (e.g. ‘start 46’) to a phone number. A confirmation message with the access code for the lock box is texted back. This action reserves the bike for the remainder of the day or until the bike is returned. Riders can text “end” to the same number, which releases the bike for the next rider.
Zagster features the Breezer Uptown, an award-winning bike known for its lightweight, yet durable construction, specifically designed for city riding. All bikes come with spacious baskets perfect for groceries, take out, or goodies from neighborhood retailers. With an attached flexible lock, riders can park their bikes wherever they want, allowing the ultimate in convenience.
“Residents choose our SkyHouse properties for our high standards of quality, luxury finishes, and unique amenities,” said Angela Ulrich, Vice President of Development for Novare Group. “With both the properties being located in the heart of the downtown area, Zagster will allow our residents to now have a new, fun, and healthy way to enjoy the many great aspects of their cities.”
Zagster is developing a national footprint of bike sharing programs in partnership with real estate/multi-family companies, businesses, hotel chains and universities, all of whom are looking to provide value added services and benefits to residents, guests or employees. This is also Zagster’s first program in the Atlanta and Orlando markets.
Founded in Philadelphia in 2007 as CityRyde and now headquartered in Cambridge, Mass., Zagster is one of the nation’s first bike sharing companies. Zagster is uniquely focused on contracting with property managers, hotels, businesses, and universities across North America to make bike sharing programs available to tenants, employees, guests and students. This highly efficient and unique model allows Zagster to offer services in areas that traditional city-wide bike sharing systems can’t reach.
