Zagster Unveils Pace, a New Nationwide Dockless Bike Share Service for Cities & Colleges

Today, we are excited to announce Pace, our new nationwide dockless bike sharing service.

Put simply, Pace is smarter dockless bike sharing. Pace features a first-of-its-kind model that delivers all of the benefits of dockless bike sharing with none of the drawbacks (like having to search for a bike every day from unpredictable locations, or tripping over bikes cluttering the sidewalk). With Pace, we’re bringing a new level of predictability, reliability and flexibility to dockless bike sharing.

Pace holds three key features that we know cities (and riders) will love:

  • Pace adapts to each city, intelligently placing dedicated Pace bike racks in key areas to maximize ridership and equity.

  • Pace offers the reliability of dedicated bike share parking plus the freedom of point-to-point travel, and ‘hold’ capabilities so no one rents your bike during your coffee break. With Pace, luck will no longer be the biggest factor in finding or keeping a dockless bike.

  • Pace bikes feature a two-point security system to ensure bikes lock to fixed objects — not just to themselves. This adds a layer of theft protection, and means riders can still make point-to-point trips without leaving bikes strewn in disruptive and undesirable places — across sidewalks, in lakes, and anywhere else you wouldn’t leave a personal bike.

We tested this model in Rochester, N.Y., over the last few months with tremendous results. Riders logged thousands of trips and reported strikingly high levels of satisfaction with the service. The city, too, was blown away by the program’s performance.

But don’t take it from us. Here’s what Rochester Mayor Lovely A. Warren had to say :

“In its first season of operations in Rochester, Zagster has become a vital and integral component of our city’s existing transportation network and shown its willingness to be a true community partner. Thanks to Zagster’s efforts, we have been able to demonstrate how a dynamic bike share system can play an important role in our efforts to create more jobs, safer and more vibrant neighborhoods and better educational opportunities for our citizens.”

Pace hits the streets of Tallahassee, Fla., on Monday, Dec. 4, and will roll out over the next few months to other great places like Albuquerque, N.M., Knoxville, Tenn., and Huntsville, Ala.

We’re eager to bring Pace to every city and college in America, and to further our mission to make the bike the most loved form of transportation. The future of bike sharing begins today.

Thank you.
