Zagster is thrilled to have been selected by the The DowntownABQ Main Street Initiative, the Mid-Region Council of Governments (MRCOG) and the City of Albuquerque to provide the city's first bike sharing program.
Funded through a collection of public and private sources, we'll start out with up to 50 bikes, and grow the program with increased demand. With more than 300 days of annual sunshine, the city is well suited to host a thriving program. In announcing the partnership, Mayor Richard J. Berry said "This is a very cool new feature for Downtown Albuquerque. This promotes convenience, fitness, and the overall livelihood of our city."
We couldn't agree more. In addition to the groups listed above, sponsorship for the program came from:Historic District Improvement Company; SMG for the Albuquerque Convention Center; Silver Moon Apartments; Vital Foods; FatPipe and; Tractor Brewery-Wells Park. Zagster continues to work with the local community to secure additional sponsors to grow the program.
Albuquerque Bike Share - or BICI (pronounced “BEE-see”), will officially launch on May 15 -- bike to work day!
